dam those guys went balls out!! I would have loved to heard what that jeep towing the glider sounded like, looked like he was screamin!

Why shouldn’t it be able to pull a glider? It is a WACO glider.. small glider. Made of wood and canvas. No engines.. it’s light as hell… =)

Very true… They “can’t” make cars anymore
One vehicle that could outdo an early jeep (Up til the 60’s-70’s) would be the early Land Rovers..
Seems that vehicle did more before aswell contra the horsepowers they had.. Truly amazing how the cars were before!

Cause the New Jeeps suck. Same with the H2 and H3…. They don’t make them like they used to.

no, the army, nor the rest of the military do not have jeeps, or jeep-sized vehicles with one exception. a guy in my platoon who was stationed in alaska told me Fort Richardson alaska still uses the M38A1 jeep there because of its extreme reliability in the snow. other than the, the army uses the M998 and M1114 HMMWVs, or, in garrison for transport around post and into town would be the typical civilian 7-9 seater “church van”

Truly amazing machines! I still wish 4×4s were as spartan and downright capable as the original Jeep, and the later Land-Rovers, rather than the life-style accessories that modern off-roaders have become. I had a ‘49 Land-Rover in the ’60s, and enjoyed it immensely. The Jeep and the L-R were the basis of systems that could be adapted for use in many situations, such as the military L-R and Mercedes-Benz’s Unimogs still are today. Does the US Army have a jeep-sized vehicle in use today?

i just dont get why people think ANY other vehicle, other than maybe an H1, can out off-road a Jeep! it just amazes me. I went on a Toyota forum the other day, and they were all talking down Jeeps, and i just laughed. a toyota tacoma? seriously people.

i wouldn’t mind restoring one to ww2 milspec. i’ve had some awesome fun bouncing around in one at reenactments (some people say we all deserve jump wings for those rides).
i liked the “DUK” type modification seen here, but i think the coolest was that jeep riding over the cloth / tarp and the GIs paddling it across the river. that’s awesome!

So far, the government “bailouts” of all of the failed financial institutions of 2008 has cost more than all of WW2. Amazing!
I love my JEEP!
Made in America

Jeeps are nether large or powerful. 58hp is not much, and Im betting the one pulling the plane is a little modified.
June 28th, 2009 at 3:20 pm
any large enuff or powerful vehicle can pull a plane
