yeah, it was in 4wd, but it got highcentered on the dirt. :) gotta go a little faster then i was going there. I was driving to carefully.

Was it in 4WD when it got stuck, or did it lock up?

60+ years :) nah, its not like animal abuse at all. these things were made to take nothing but abuse, all day long, every day. :) we’re pretty easy on the beast :) I don’t know if you know it, but mitsubishi in japan, had a contract with willys to build cj-3b type flat fender willys in japan. and they continued to do so until 1998 or so :) i don’t know if they used the “go devil” 134 Fladhead 4 in the begining, but had diesel as the years went on! :) Lucky bastards :) i want one

  7. tommartyn said:

haha! yeah it would :) my great uncle harvey owned this willys, and named it red boy :) it sat from 1971 till 2005 maybe, when i got it and we got it running. I don’t know how long he owned it before 71, but his ex wife said that its seen alot of mud in its day :) so i bet it had fun :) he also was at wood stock… i wonder if he drove that thing there! 45-50MPH top speed and all :)

it is almost like animal abuse seeing a willys in such bad shape, but at least it lives. Will the pretty little wranglers still be kickin around in 50+ years? I doubt it. You see ,metal will last much longer than the plastic Jeep of today. Long live the Willys Jeep!!

If only it could talk, that would have some awesome stories.. It’s good to see a 4 wheel drive before they started to get lame! (1970)

  10. tommartyn said:

Thanks man! they are! awesome fun. haha, i’ll look into that for the potato gun :) Thanks!

Awesome Willys!!!! I have a 54 and a 56 Willys jeep,, There fun and tuff as hell to play around in…. Oh yea, by the way,,,, You should check at a hardware store for some Carbide and put it in the potato gun and try it… It will send it to the moon,,,,, lol.
I always use carbide in mine and it sounds like a 30-6 being shot. lol.

Actually, it was running good, but I sunk the thing almost completely at a mud run, and it ruined it. We took it to a shop and he said it was in crappy shape. It’s now bored .30 over and a bunch of stuff. If you want to spend the money, they have a new carb for these Jeeps that is supposed to make them run better, but I don’t notice a big difference. Mine has an F-head instead of a flat head though.

I got really lucky with this engine, it doesn’t need anything done to it. Its perfect. :) Could use a new rebuilt carb for the thing, and an oil filter hooked up. but thats about it.

  14. CapnJim09 said:

I have one of these, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. It’s in much better shape though. We just spent $1300 on the motor.

  15. tommartyn said:

haha! Are you serious? This thing is from 1946, Its 63 years old… and it runs perfect, and works pretty much perfect too… What more could you want from the thing? Do you think it needs to be shiny? or some other pointless thing? Very strange…

  16. trailerboy42 said:

    What a pile of junk.

  17. tommartyn said:

:) haha, yes it is :)

    increvable ta jeep!:))

  19. tommartyn said:

:) yeah, the engine is in really good shape, for sure. Ton’s of power, and no noticiable problems. I suppose the generator we took it off of had low hours on it. the generator was sitting next to the jeep in my great uncle’s garage for at least 20 years, and we took it off, threw it in the jeep, and it fired right up and ran perfect right away :) These engines love to run! and they were used in tons of stuff! ;) and manufactured by a few different company’s

Alright as long as it’s semi safe lol. You should really restore that thing when you get the time/money. That’s one of the better running original willys jeeps I’ve seen. Most of them at least have a rod knock or a spun main bearing once they get that old. I didn’t even notice any smoke from the valve seals. Most of the time an old engine like that will let out a puff or two when you start it or when you stop and go from worn out valve guides.

  21. tommartyn said:

haha, yeah, but you’ve got to keep in mind that the jeep has no charging system. so the battery is always pretty low on juice. and i have had it kill the battery before… by literally shorting i out like that. So far.. no explosion :) but if it did, i really don’t think i’d get burnt, its not like a car, theres no roof, no way to be trapped in it. would be an awesome fire though! :)
The reason i talked about that in the vid, is because of the possible bad things. its interesting.

Your a brave man. T-shirt between your pos and the gas tank means Kaboom if the t-shirt moves. If your not in the ER by the time you read this you might wanna think about the spark that’s gonna make should the shirt ever move. Not trolling you just making sure you understand what will happen.

  23. tommartyn said:

:) You know it! Yep, an 84. its too thick though, hits the wheel well’s and sits too far forward. plus not being bolted down kinda sucks too. My 74 AMC CJ-5 had beige seats about that color in it, and the vinyl ripped off, and it had a chyrsler sylmbol on it! :) Guess they bought their seats from chysler back then. Thought that was funny.

  24. RangerMJMarsh23 said:

Haha nice seat, Is that a back seat to a dodge ramcharger?
