Supercharged Jeep Wrangler against stock Jeep Wrangler
January 21st, 2010 by jeep
Here you can tell the difference between a supercharged jeep and a stock jeep. Mine is the gold jeep. Note that I had just installed the supercharger myself. No calibrations had been done and I was barely learning when to shift. Believe me, it does make a difference once you learn and do all that. If you turn on your speakers, you can listen to the supercharger, see the other race on my channel. THXS

@keithryan1025 It is better on emissions. The 4.0L I6 was having trouble passing the newer emissions tests.

cheaper format.

im not talking about diesels jackass im talking about gasoline. my jeep had a straight six in it and i put the number 2 piston through the side of the block so i put a 400ci small block chevy in it and now it tops out at 140mph on 33in. m/t baja claws

@patm249 Then why is the strongest diesel made a I6?

6 cylinders all suck get a v8

the 3.8 engine is a V6 engine not stright 6
January 21st, 2010 at 9:08 pm
Both the 4.0 and the 3.8 are good engines. I own a comanche with inline 6and a jk rubicon. Both put out amazing torque.
both awsome on the trail, only those that do not own a jeep with a 3.8 feel they are inferior. you can’t really compare what you do not own.

I highly doubt it is, but it’s possible. The 4.0 in my 04 Wrangler gets somewhere in the area of 18 to 20 mpg sometimes if I drive like grandma. Not sure what the 3.8 gets
January 21st, 2010 at 9:08 pm
Is the 3.8 just better on gas is that why they made the switch?
January 21st, 2010 at 9:08 pm
Id assume these were both straight sixes. Jeep changed to the 3.8 in 07 when they switched to the JK wrangler. The 3.8 is inferior to the 4.0 in my opinion because the 4.0 makes more torque and hp at lower rpm which is more useable on the trail
January 21st, 2010 at 9:08 pm
the wrangles run a straight 6 all day the Rubicons were 4.0 straight six till i belive 06 than changed to a 3.8 straight six puttin out like 240 stok

then you’re deaf. The higher-pitched whine the whole time was the supercharger. There was the lower tone exhaust from both jeeps, and the overtone of the supercharger. Anyone who has even seen a supercharger knows what they sound like.(twin screw or roots type…centrifugal type sounds like a turbo)
January 21st, 2010 at 9:08 pm
what engines to those jeeps have?
January 21st, 2010 at 9:08 pm
It actually has a Borla exhaust. I don’t like the noise of flowmaster, to loud on the road.
January 21st, 2010 at 9:08 pm
lol, they sounded like little RC cars. get some flowmaster exausts on them. driving in the sand looks fun btw

January 21st, 2010 at 9:08 pm

January 21st, 2010 at 9:08 pm
This is in San Luis Rio Colorado Sonora Mexico, well near it. Its in between the said city and El Golfo de Santa Clara Sonora. There is a patch of dunes in the desert. Just to give you an idea in relation to USA its on the Southwest corner of Arizona. OH, n mebo1990 and Jims7yfz450 it does have a supercharger on it but the engine wasn’t calibrated at that time, hence not the big difference.

Where was this filmed?, Anyone know where to do this in Australia?
January 21st, 2010 at 9:08 pm
It is pretty thin. The width is actually 7 inches, which is pretty thin (I’d really like to get some 9 or 10 inch wide wheels), but it functions.
January 21st, 2010 at 9:08 pm
that sounds way too thin
